I had woken up early this morning and gone to the toilet to find I was bleeding quite a bit and I didn't feel too good. Mum, bless her, took me to the doctors, who examined me and said I'd got to go to hospital, the ride of my life was upon me. Mum had not long passed her driving test and she was upset, it wasn't the bed journey. We got to the hospital and I was taken to a room and put on a monitor. Everything happened rather quickly and I was rushed into theatre. I had an emergency Caesarian and my baby Daniel was born at 10:43am weighing no more than a bag of sugar. As I wasn't conscious I didn't know what was going on. After, I was taken to a solo room just off the ward to recouperate, where I must have slept for hours. It must have been later that day, that a doctor came to see me and said my baby was very poorly. I was wheeled down to the Special Care Baby Unit to see my little boy. He was in a little metal box - similar to a cat litter tray, with lots of wires and monitors attached to him. Oh wow, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so sad. He needed to be in SCBU. The staff were fantastic, can't thank them enough. I never had his cot by the side of my bed like most mothers. We never even got him a car seat. I couldn't drive anyway. We had been given a lot of things to us by a good friend of Peters'. They never got used. Peter was with me most of the time if I remember correctly. Mum was fantastic.
